Università di Bologna – Alma Mater Studiorum

Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (UniBO) is the oldest university in the Western world. It currently gathers over 85,000 students for more than 200 degree courses (43 of them are international), 51 PhD courses, 47 Specialization courses and 64 Master courses of different levels. It is composed by a central location and 5 local campuses, and it is organized in 11 Schools and 33 Departments.
It is the 1st University in Italy considering the number of co-financed research projects with European funds, and the 31st in Europe. 272 are the projects won within the Seventh Framework Programme, of which 50 (9 coordinated projects) about Knowledge Based Bio-Economy (KBBE), with a total budget of over € 16 billion, and 12 about biotech / bioenergy.
